A whole lot of quilting going on

I don't need a crystal ball to know that my friends will all be binding this weekend

This is Carolines first quilt, a very personal gift for a friend

 Tricky triangles in Oakshot fabric were not the easiest but the end result is worth the ache.
I made my own  stencil but would have liked the hearts to have been less wobbly

Hilary made a log cabin bed runner for a friend and asked for flowers in the quilting.

 This seemed to fit the bill with a lovely YLI varigated thread.

 This is for Holly. Lovely spring colours I think it is destined for a gift when she goes to Africa later in the year.

 Here is the back. Quite a dense quilting pattern. I learnt to be careful not to scooch the panto when advancing the quilt.

This is the only quilt top of this batch thatI have made, it  to donate to Quilts for Injured Soldiers. I made it from only 3 shirts but now have to find something suitable for binding. This is my February charity quilt clearly very late, March may get done tomorrow and just scrape through.

More New York Beauty Blocks

 I am having fun getting to know my machine and making these blocks.

Sadly I think I only have 2 more to do but I think I will have to draw some of my own then.

New pincushion from failed Dear Jane blocks

My boys were going out for a drive so I sent them shopping for Chinchilla sand to fill this pincushion. I wasn't sure which side I liked best but now I have seen them here, it is clear to me that the star is much nicer.
I have also been making more New York Beauty blocks using my little beauty. I had been taking photos with the intention of posting a tutorial as the method suggested in the quilt along is not the method I would have chosen, especially for beginners but blogger seems to be making things very difficult for me.

Someone took my camera when I wasn't looking and snapped me.

 Do I always look like that when I am concentrating?

I have a new machine!

I have loved these machines for ages and when the oportunity presented itself I Ummed and Ahhed and tried to tell myself I really didn't need another machine but when I enquired again and was told one purchaser had withdrawn I thought this was meant for me.
She is beautiful and I love her. A little research lead me to find out that she was made precisely 60 years ago between Feb and April of 1952, she is not in absolutely perfect condition there are a couple of dinks in the black paint so I am not afraid to use her but her gold decoration is in good condition and shows no wear. Master Chaos the second son and junior engineer took the side plate off to examine the workings and then the base cover, pointing out cams and things that needed grease and points that needed oil. He noted that the cover of the hand book says 'for family use' and that was all the justification he needed for taking the screwdriver to it.
 I think she looks lovely tucked inside the throat of my long arm.

New york beauty blocks

These are my first 3 blocks from the quilt along and I am loving them.

I have a small purchase to photograph and share with you but need to do that in daylight and I keep forgetting. I will try to remember tomorrow.
